Soooooo.... All Hallow's Eve eh? Well happy scarey day / night to you all. I'll be spending it a tad late here at the office, then home to hand out the goodies to the kiddies... and ummm play with Gentoo Linux on my old laptop, and once I get it working on that and figure out the portage stuff, then my server will be reborn, yes amoungst the living yet again, a Linux server in the Brown household... a place to keep the community music archive, software executables, pictures and porn...

Well work is just beating me up one side and down the other, seems like lately there have been way too many "high priority" projects on my plate and I'm having to juggle them all at the same time. But this too shall pass.

B and I are working on getting our 8 month old to know what bedtime is about, and I can only hope that last night is the norm and the night before isn't. Sunday night was a test of will's, I realize that B takes it much harder when Gracie is upset than I do, not that I don't mind you, but I know that in the long run this will make all our lives easier and more peaceful. Last night I took her up stair's and she played for a second, then passed out, sleeping until well after I got to work today. She is such a good little one, and smart as hell... I can only imagine the things she will learn and ultimately outsmart B and I both.

So I downloaded the latest image of GenToo and well my media is jacked so there was no new installation fun happening last night. Bleh...

Tonite is gonna be busy, lots of errands and little things to take care of before I leave for Springfield tomorrow morning for my smalliest nephew's first birthday party. And since he has requested good beer and food I think it will be a good one. Now... what to get a one year old with a brother who is likely to get upset that his little brother is getting presents and he isn't... hrmmmm...

Well I had a domestic mishap over the weekend, the water heater died... so yesterday I worked from home while it was replaced with a new one. You know how nice it is to be doing laundry and not see this slow dripping rust colored water coming from the bottom of that old water heater. It is also nice to be able to take a shower, as B will tell you.

But if a broken water heater is the worst thing I have to complain about things must not be that bad huh? I'm very happy with my relationship, and I don't see that changing, we kinda fit each other like a glove.

I got my old laptop running with a version of SUSE last night, but I'm having some thoughts about getting my other PC running instead of giving it to my parents. Now this will take a few things, 1) a Linux compatible wireless card (802.11g) since I'm completely wireless at the house now 2) a new distro of Linux (I'm leaning towards GenToo at the moment unless I get other suggestions) and 3) the time to sit down and do it. I figure if I set up my old box I might have a play environment again, and I can get my DynDNS working again as well just so I can play remotely. So this has me sort of geeking out again...

Oh well, back to the wonderful world of Java Application Servers... and by wonderful I mean Arrrrggggghhhhh!

After much thought and consideration... and a great idea from DangerBoy I have ended up synicating a number of local news blogs on my red headed step child site KCBloggers. This should keep the content fresh and moving and allow people to taste some of the local blogs, which I'm considering putting in some of the more popular personal blogs up there just to give some flavor as well, but I'm still thinking this over. The main thing KCBloggers provides is a simple way to check out local bloggers, which was the goal, so that will still be managed... which I have to go and weed before too long.

Ahhh... I love having Federal Holiday's off, something about working at a place that get's atleast one day off a month is a wonderful thing.

So my weekend went like this;

Friday, stayed at home (B and I didn't have a babysitter) so we relaxed and watched some TV and snuggled on the couch for awhile.

Saturday, house cleaning and the Last of the V8's at Mikes Tavern! Holy shite! This band was rock'n, just flat out full on, in your face, naked, rock -n- roll! Damn, if this band was a regular and not just a one off reunion show I would be there as often as I could be.

So we stopped to get gas before the show and my battery died... I'm talking dead as a doornail right then and there at the pump. I had B beg for a jump from some other gas getter (which was odd to say the least, it was obviously a man... but he/she/it had bright red painted fingernails). So I got a jump and went ahead to Mike's Tavern, at which point my battery was dead there as well, so we begged a jump from a friend when we left... needless to say I was not pleased.

Sunday, relaxing day, bought a battery in the morning to replace my dead one... bleh.

Monday I worked on the office in the basement more, and ummm basically relaxed on my day off, the way it should be.

To all of my bible thumping friends, this just keeps getting funnier and funnier...

Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?

i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

Okay so I moved my office into the basement right next to the new drum kit and my other amps. And next is the setup of a new server down there, I need to get all my stuff in one place again, and get my audio server back up and running which I haven't had in a long time, so this is the next thing on my list, but then again I'm going to have to get a new linux server to run on wireless... this could get interesting.

I have also just setup the go.blogger.com account to be able to post pictures from my phone to the blog, which I hope will get rid of the crappy Sprint PCS advertisments they add on to the pictures... first post using this will be soon and we shall see.
