Patrick D. Brown

With over 21 years of experience in IT, including hands on development, infrastructure engineering, administration and managing varied teams of developers and engineers he has a proven track record of bringing together the technical talent to achieve results. Over the past two years I have lead three distinct IT teams, two agile (SCRUM) development and the other cloud infrastructure (DevOps), pushing to create standards, aid in the governance of the incoming work streams and automate many of the aspects of the teams daily work, it’s is my belief that simplicity is the best policy and by taking more of the grind out of the daily work, more time can be spent on intelligently creating products and infrastructure of the future. Outside of the office Patrick spends his time with his wife and two daughters, playing music and being an avid fan of soccer.

IT Manager II – Healthcare Services & Online Banking Development (2014 to Current) Current manager of three diverse development and infrastructure teams, one that is primarily focused on the infrastructure (DevOps) support of cloud environments, and two development teams, the Healthcare Services platform (Flex Spend Cards and Health Savings Accounts) and the other is the Online Banking platform. Both teams are primarily developing in .Net C# with a focus on refactoring everything to utilize MVC, moving away from the use of WebForms. The overall design is pushing toward a traditional Service Oriented Design broken out into several different technologies, java, CICS and .Net. We are currently utilizing SCRUM / KANBAN Agile for our development planning and execution.

IT Manager – Virtual Infrastructure Team (1.5 Years) Manager of the Virtual Infrastructure (Cisco UCS / VMWare / XenApp), Microsoft Server / Active Directory and Enterprise Tools teams, which consists of 12 engineers of varying skill sets. Responsible for spearheading the completion of a full revamp of the Infrastructure completed in early 2013, and leading the development of the infrastructure and processes surrounding the adoption of Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager for the enterprise.  Currently budgeting and overseeing the Active Directory 2012 upgrade project, and part of the executive relationship management team for Operations and Technology.

IT Manager – Application Services / Middleware Team (4.5 Years) Manager of the Application Services team, which included 9 engineers with the primary responsibility for managing the WebSphere Application Server, IIS (.Net), Apache, and Citrix environments for the company. Worked closely with the Application Development teams to develop processes to meet their production release needs as they moved toward utilizing an Agile development strategy.

Sr. Web Systems Engineer / Web Systems Group Lead (3 Years) Lead a 4 person team to complete enterprise projects on time and budget, as well as worked with the project management teams and business units to achieve the desired goals. Spearheaded a new process for the team to have static change windows decreasing the amount of off hours work done and lowering the risk overall to the change process.

Sr. WebSphere Administrator (1 Year) Worked with IBM WebSphere Application Server 4.0, 5.X. and 6.X extensively, as well as use of TomCat, SunOne and JBoss.

Sr. WebServer Administrator (1 Year) Worked with Microsoft IIS and Apache environments for the presentation layer of the company’s internal and externally facing web presence.

Aided the in house development team by designing backend service based systems to access the data for high profile websites, used primarily for interactive web experiences. Worked with the Technical Director to increase the security of their locally hosted systems, as well as their remotely hosted systems.  Responsible for setting up Name Service (DNS), Sendmail, and a secondary DS3 for web hosting venture as well as web development using (PHP & Perl), and SQL / MySQL Database Management.  Also tasked with LAN management for all of the artists and administrative coworkers, which included desktop management, large format printer maintenance (IRIS) and the care and feeding of a large NAS system based off of Novell.

Senior Systems Administrator 

Managed web server farm, using Solaris 2.6, Linux, and IRIX on Origin 200 SGI Servers. Approximate traffic for the web farm included 12 sites with around 2 million unique hits a day. Maintained name service (DNS), and sendmail for entire company. Interacted with the Management for new technologies development, and proposals for their current systems, as well as the future development.

Asst. Systems Administrator / IT Manager 

Manager of 8 person technical support, and development team. Technical support was a 24 hour 7 day a week operation, as well as one half development of new technologies, mostly for the now defunct ecommerce (billing) system PowerCharge. Additional support for the senior systems administrator in the maintenance of a 7 million hit a day web site, and the build out and daily support of a new data center.

Starting out in technical support, rapidly began assisting the UNIX Administrator with simple tasks. Promoted to the technical support manager for nearly 6 months before being promoted to the Assistant Systems administrator.  Main responsibilities were to maintain a Solaris UNIX environment, ranging from sendmail / POP3 servers to setup and follow through of customer co-locate machines on many different platforms.
